Do I Trust You (Twila Paris)

This "oldie" is truly one of my favourites. Heard it back in my teenage days and it's never left my music bank since. So simple, so real. Twila's music comes straight from her heart from God.
Do I Trust You is our song, and I especially like the verse that says"I will trust you Lord, when I don't know why"

Sometimes my little heart can't understand
What's in Your will, what's in Your plan.
So many times I'm tempted to ask You why,
But I can never forget it for long.
Lord, what You do could not be wrong.
So I believe You, even when I must cry.
Do I trust You, Lord?
Does the river flow?
Do I trust You, Lord?
Does the north wind blow?
You can see my heart,
You can read my mind,
And You got to know
That I would rather die
Than to lose my faith
In the One I love.
Do I trust You, Lord?
Do I trust You?

I know the answers, I've given them all.
But suddenly now, I feel so small.
Shaken down to the cavity in my soul.
I know the doctrine and theology,
But right now they don't mean much to me.
This time there's only one thing I've got to know.

Do I trust You, Lord?
Does the robin sing?
Do I trust You, Lord?
Does it rain in spring?
You can see my heart,
You can read my mind,
And You got to know
That I would rather die
Than to lose my faith
In the One I love.
Do I trust You, Lord?
Do I trust You?

I will trust You, Lord, when I don't know why.
I will trust You, Lord, till the day I die.
I will trust You, Lord, when I'm blind with pain!
You were God before, and You'll never change.
I will trust You.
I will trust You.
I will trust You, Lord.
I will trust You.

Jesus Will Still Be There (Point Of Grace)

Things change
Plans fail
You look for love on a grander scale
Storms rise
Hopes fade
And you place your bets on another day
When the going gets tough
When the ride's too rough
When you're just not sure enough...

Jesus will still be there
His love will never change
Sure as a steady rain
Jesus will still be there
When no one else is true
He'll still be loving you
When it looks like you've lost it all
And you haven't got a prayer
Jesus will still be there

Time flies
Hearts turn
A little bit wiser form lessons learned
But sometimes
Weakness wins
And you lose your foothold once again
When the going gets tough
When the ride's too rough
When you're just not sure enough...

When it looks like you've lost it all
And you haven't got a prayer
Jesus will still be there

In Christ Alone (Brian Littrell)

An all time favourite that speaks of our total trust in Him.

Chorus:
In Christ alone, I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross.

Verse:
In every vic-tor-y let it be said of me
My source of strength, my source of hope
Is Christ alone.

Still (Reuben Morgan)

So often when we face a crisis or problem, we try to do everything humanly possible to resolve, to take control of the situation. But really being Still is what's needed at times.. to come before God in total surrender and submission. Only then will one truly realise that we will and can soar above the storm. This song has always ministered to me and has kept me mindful of this fact and for the often occasions when I'm rushing about in the affairs of this world...to be still.

Hide me now under Your wings
Cover me within Your mighty hand

Chorus
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father, You are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God

Find rest my soul in Christ alone
Know His power in quietness and trust

Made Me Glad (Hillsongs)

Darlene Zschech, 2002 Integrity Music (USA)

I will bless the Lord forever
I will trust Him at all times
He has delivered me from all fear
He has set my feet upon a rock
I will not be moved
And I'll say of the Lord

Chorus
You are my shield
My strength
My portion
Deliverer
My shelter
Strong tower
My very present help in time of need

Whom have I in heaven but You
There's none I desire besides You
You have made me glad
And I'll say of the Lord

Your Name (Paul Baloche & Kathryn Scott)

As morning dawns and evening fades
You inspire songs of praise
That rise from earth to touch Your heart
and glorify Your Name

CHORUS
Your Name is a strong and mighty tower
Your Name is a shelter like no other
Your Name, let the nations sing it louder
'Cause nothing has the power to save
But Your Name

Jesus, in Your Name we pray
Come and fill our hearts today
Lord, give us strength to live for You
and glorify Your Name

CHORUS
Your Name is a strong and mighty tower
Your Name is a shelter like no other
Your Name, let the nations sing it louder
'Cause nothing has the power to save
but Your Name

The Warrior Is A Child (Twila Paris)

Lately I've been winning battles left and right
But even winners can get wounded in the fight
People say that I'm amazing
I'm strong beyond my years
But they don't see inside of me
I'm hiding all the tears

Chorus:
They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
(Look up for His smile)
'Coz deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child

Unafraid because His arrow is the best
But even soldiers need a quiet place to rest
People say that I'm amazing
I never face retreat, oh no
But they don't see the enemies
That lay me at His feet

Chorus:
They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
(Look up for His smile)
'Coz deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child

They don't know that I come running home when I fall down
They don't know who picks me up when no one is around
I drop my sword and cry for just a while
(Look up for His smile)
'Coz deep inside this armor
The warrior is a child

Rescue (NewSong)

You are the source of life
And I can't be left behind
No one else will do
I will take hold of you

Chorus
I need You Jesus
To come to my rescue
Where else can I go
There's no other name by
Which I am saved
Capture me with Love

My heart is yours for life
And I need your hand in mine
No one else will do
I put my trust in you

I will follow you
This world has nothing for me.

At The Foot Of The Cross (Kathryn Scott)

AT THE FOOT OF THE CROSS (Ashes To Beauty) Kathryn Scott

At the foot of the cross
Where grace and suffering meet
You have shown me Your love
Through the judgment You received

And You've won my heart
Yes You've won my heart
Now I can

Trade these ashes in for beauty
And wear forgiveness like a crown
Coming to kiss the feet of mercy
I lay every burden down
At the foot of the cross

At the foot of the cross
Where I am made complete
You have given me life
Through the death You bore for me

I'm laying every burden down
I'm laying every burden down

He Knows My Name

Seeing Jo in her present state for the past 2 weeks has been tough...

We couldn't attend Watchnight Service (on Dec 31, 2006) but instead celebrated the coming of the New Year in meditative worship @ home. It was a real Blessing. One of our favourite songs is captured below. The lyrics speak simply of God's presence, insurmountable love and divine providence for His people. We only need to believe...

He Knows My Name (by Tommy Walker)

I have a maker
He formed my heart
Before even time began
My life was in His hands

He knows my name
He knows my every thought
He sees each tear that falls
And He hears me when I call

I have a Father he calls me His own
He'll never leave me
No matter where I go

On Friday, we studied Joshua 1 in our first Elim SG session of the new year. God spoke to me over and over again in this amazing passage -

"Be strong and courageous..." This phrase is repeated 4 x in Joshua 1.

And as God spoke to Joshua in (v.5) "...As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you."

We Are The Reason

This is a classic song (since the 80's) we've sung so often in Sunday School and Church. The lyrics simply hit home to what Christmas is truly all about - the CHRIST in Christmas. Here's the midi version in case you don't know the tune, click here. http://www.arcadiachristianchurch.org/MIDI/davidmeece_WeAreReason.mid

We are the Reason
Words & Music by David Meece Copyright 1980 Meece Music (admin by) WORD Music

As little children we would dream of Christmas morn
And all the gifts and toys we knew we'd find
But we never realized a baby born one blessed night
Gave us the greatest gift of our lives

And we were the reason that He gave His life
We were the reason that He suffered and died
To a world that was lost He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

As the years went by we learned more about gifts
And giving of ourselves and what that means
On a dark and cloudy day a man hung crying
in the rain
Because of love, because of love

And we are the reason that He gave His life
We are the reason that He suffered and died
To a world that was lost He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

I finally found the reason for living
It's in giving every part of my heart to Him
In all that I do every word that I say
I'll be giving my all just for Him
For Him

And we are the reason that He gave His life
We are the reason that He suffered and died
To a world that was lost He gave all He could give
To show us the reason to live

He is my reason to live

Sometimes He Comes In The Clouds

By Steven Curtis Chapman, "My Utmost for His Highest" CD Vol. 1

"In the Bible clouds are always associated with God. Clouds are the sorrows, sufferings, or providential circumstances, within or without our personal lives, which actually seem to contradict the sovereignty of God. Yet it is through these very clouds that the Spirit of God is teaching us how to walk by Faith. They are a sign that God is there."

These are the places I was so sure I'd find Him
I've looked in the pages And I've looked down on my knees
I've lifted my eyes in expectation to see the sun still refusing to shine, but...

Chorus:
Sometimes He comes in the clouds.
Sometimes His face cannot be found
Sometimes the sky is dark and gray
But some things can only be known
And sometimes our faith can only grow
When we can't see
So, sometimes He comes in the clouds

Sometimes I see me, a sailor out on the ocean
So brave and so sure,
As long as the skies are clear
But when the clouds start to gather,
I watch my faith turn to fear, but...

Sometimes He comes in the rain
And we question the pain
And wonder how God can seem so far away
But time will show us
He was right there with us.

"I Don't Know About Tomorrow"

It's pretty amazing how God chooses to speak to us isn't it?

While driving back from work today, this classic hymn from Sunday School days came ringing back in my head. It was pretty amazing that I could almost recall the entire lyrics. Anyway the Nets got everything and I managed to find it:

I dont know about tomorrow
I just live from day to day
I dont borrow from its sunshine
For its skies may turn to grey
And i dont worry about my future
For i know what Jesus said
and today He walks beside me
for He knows what lies ahead
Many things about tomorrow
I dont seem to understand
But i know who holds tomorrow
and i know who holds my hand

The lyrics are so simple and so perfectly sums up what God is to us. There is nothing more we can add or subtract in a situation like this, and there are many situations we simply cannot fathom or explain except to just learn... to trust Him.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." Proverbs 3:5,6
